 Can you blame Cal Ripken Jr. for wanting nothing to do with Mark McGwire?
Baseball's iron man, who will almost certainly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer next year, wouldn't offer his opinion on the slugger's chances of earning a spot in Cooperstown. McGwire has lived in steroid's shadow since his awkward testimony on Capitol Hill last year.
"I'm curious, but I don't feel that I'm in a position to judge," he said. "History will judge us all in some way. And, if you're content with the truth coming out, then whether your judgment day is now or 50 years from now doesn't matter."
Ripken addressed reporters on behalf of an artificial turf manufacturer before the questions turned to next month's Hall of Fame balloting. Asked if he would object to sharing the stage with McGwire, Ripken said, "Couldn't get past that question, could we?"

An AP survey last month of 125 baseball writers who are eligible to vote — about 20 percent of the total — showed that only one in four who gave an opinion planned to vote for McGwire.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
