Here is what's playing now:
BABEL 2/4 stars, 2 hr. 22 mins., R An array of characters in Morocco, Tunisia, Japan, Mexico and suburban America find themselves in a series of desperate situations in this drama that flows between different storylines.
BORAT 3/4 stars, 1 hr. 30 mins., R Sacha Baron Cohen stars in the title role of this mock-doc in which the buffoonish Kazakhstan tele-journalist travels to America, offends everyone, and tries to meet, and marry, “Baywatch” babe Pamela Anderson.
CASINO ROYALE 3/4 stars, 2 hrs. 20 mins., PG-13 Daniel Craig possesses a distinctive mix of macho, menace and magnetism in this kickiest of James Bond reboots based on the Ian Fleming novel that started it all. With Judi Dench, Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen.
DECK THE HALLS 2/4 stars, 1 hr. 35 mins., PG This is the movie equivalent of fruitcake: It comes every Christmas, and you really don’t want it. Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito are neighbors who try to outdo each other in the decorating department.
DEJA VU 2/4 stars, 2 hrs. 6 mins., PG-13 Denzel Washington and director Tony Scott collaborate on a visually stunning film that falls short in covering up obvious plot holes.
FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS 3/4 stars, 2 hr. 12 mins., R Clint Eastwood directs this visceral, if not altogether seamless, reenactment of the Battle of Iwo Jima — the Pacific Theater bloodbath that produced the iconic image of six U.S. soldiers raising a flag.
FLICKA 1/4 stars, 1 hr. 40 mins., PG “Flicka” is a bronc you shouldn’t put money on. Gumby’s sidekick Pokey has more personality than the free-spirited mustang in this spavined update of Mary O’Hara’s beloved tale.
FLUSHED AWAY 3/4 stars, 1 hr. 30 mins., PG Toilet humor has long been a staple of movie comedies — from gross farce to, well, gross farce. But the jolly, computer-animated roller-coaster ride “Flushed Away” takes potty-ness to a new level.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION 2/4 stars, 1 hr. 26 mins., PG-13 The comedies of Christopher Guest have always had a fondness for their hapless characters. This, on the other hand, feels mean.
THE FOUNTAIN 2/4 stars, 1 hr. 35 mins., PG-13 Three parallel stories inhabited by Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz touch heartstrings but get muddied out-of-order editing.
HAPPY FEET 3/4 stars, 1 hr. 48 mins., PG A trippy mash-up of “March of the Penguins” and a hyperactive jukebox musical, the computer-animated “Happy Feet” offers the tale of an outcast Antarctic hatchling who can’t carry a tune, but, boy, can he dance.
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE 2/4 stars, 1 hr. 41 mins., R A stormy quasi-comedy destined to polarize audiences, this is a specimen of the “Family — can`t live with ’em, can’t kill ’em” credo.
THE NATIVITY STORY 4/4 stars, 1 hr. 30 mins., PG The movie reveals why the narrative virtues of this blend of myth and “Gospel” truth, the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth, has withstood the test of time.
THE QUEEN 4/4 stars, 1 hr. 43 mins., PG-13 Compassionate as it is critical, satirical as it is serious, “The Queen” is less a docudrama about British Prime Minister Tony Blair and HRH Elizabeth II in the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death than it is a political romantic comedy.
THE PRESTIGE 2/4 stars, 2 hrs. 10 mins., PG-13 Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman — and Michael Caine and the sexpotted Scarlett Johansson — star in this convoluted and unconvincing tale of dueling magicians in Victorian-era London.
STRANGER THAN FICTION 3/4 stars, 1 hr. 53 mins., PG-13 As “The Truman Show” is to Jim Carrey, this trippy tale will be for Will Ferrell. Take a brainy premise, a smart director and a top-flight cast, then throw an ex-TV sketch comedy knucklehead into the mix — voila, a thinking person’s dramedy.
SANTA CLAUS 3 2/4 stars, 1 hr. 38 mins., G Tim Allen returns as Father Christmas in this slick and silly family sequel. The Mrs. is pregnant; the in-laws are barking and Jack Frost (Martin Short) is nipping at his ... ...you know what.
TURISTAS 1/4 stars, 1 hr. 29 mins., R It’s a horror movie that gives all the suspense away. There’s ick factor and grossness, but not much else.
VAN WILDER DEUX 1/4 stars, 1 hr. 38 mins., R There is no funnier joke in than the filmmakers’ conviction that Kal Penn has the chops to carry a romantic comedy all on his own.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | Hola Amigos! I'm Sandra. I like to believe that people are 70 percent good and 30 percent dumb. I'm stickin to that story. Reading this blog might make you want to be good, but probably just dumb. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!

| | Ms. Giles currently lives in Colorado where she stars in her own private reality show. She writes aphoristic accounts of her life, taken completely out of context, and embellished with characters and situations disguised to resemble something close to interesting. | |
