Marie Way talks to the animals. You might say she is the Dr. Dolittle of northern Colorado.
Way, 53, of Red Feather Lakes is going on her 12th year as a professional animal communicator, helping people communicate with their pets, both current and past. “I’ve always known I could do it,” Way said. “Animal communication is something that grows. You learn and reach deeper levels.”
At a young age, Way read “Kinship with all Life,” by J. Allen Boone and was inspired. When she was 9 she was out riding horses when she encountered a rattlesnake.
“I got off my horse and knelt down in front of it,” she said. “I didn’t have any fear because I was 9. I was well within striking distance but the snake uncoiled and went away. I was in awe.”
But animal communication is not only for the gifted, Way said.
“Anybody can do it. There are people born more likely to do it from day one. People’s biggest hurdle to get over is they have to trust what they perceive.”
Way always knew she could communicate with animals, but it wasn’t something she set out to do professionally. It all started after she wrote an article for “The Healing Path” magazine. Things progressed and the magazine asked her to write a column. Before she knew it, people were calling her asking for her help and paying for her service.
“There is a divine plan when you fall into work you love and this is the work I love,” she said.
Way specializes in animal afterlife communication and helps people deal with grief and the healing process.
In 1995, Way had two of her beloved animals pass away on the same day. It was finally time for her to say good-bye to her beloved 5-year-old cat Casper, who suffered from leukemia.
“I thought I knew what love felt like, but then he passed through me and sent me the most intense love I’ve ever felt, so intense it took my breath away,” she said. Way realized she didn’t need to be afraid of death anymore. She turned to her 16-year-old dog, Heidi, who was crippled with arthritis and told her she understood. Within hours, the dog passed away.
“She had been waiting for me to understand and accept,” Way said. Now, Way is devoted to helping others experience the same thing. Sessions involve meetings, either by phone or in person. Way starts by identifying what the owner wants to ask or convey.
“Then I focus very intently on the animal and the answers come very quickly,” she said. The animal does not need to be physically present for Way to communicate with it.
In addition to communication sessions, Way has been busy writing her first book, “Faces of God,” scheduled for release in December of this year.
The book explores the understanding of animals as emotional creatures. Each animal is a new face of God, Way said.
Way knows she has skeptics, but she is OK with that.
“It’s such a deep spiritual experience, they have to be ready and if not, that’s OK,” Way said. “I don’t try to convince anyone. There’s people who I don’t tell what I do. There’s a lot of people who joke and laugh about what I do and that’s OK. I find the best response is to just joke back. But really, this is my passion.”

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
