 Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hobbled on crutches into his inauguration on Friday.
The governor nursed a badly broken right leg, but took his second oath of office as California's leader, promising not to be beholden to a political party and declaring "centrist does not mean weak."
Centrist "does not mean watered down or warmed over," he said. "It means well-balanced and well-grounded."
Schwarzenegger said growing numbers of independent voters are showing the way to a new era of what he called "post-partisanship." And he called for a new "creative center" in politics.
"This is a dynamic center that is not held captive by either the left or the right or the past," he said.
BIPARTISAN SPIRIT
 Schwarzenegger invited to his inauguration the state's top Democrats, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, who on Thursday became the first woman speaker of the House, and Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.
None of them attended.
The master of ceremonies was another famous Democrat, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, who once was speaker of the state Assembly.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
